Renovation Rationalization

Suffering from bouts of helplessness and at times homelessness, have begun to identify with the term "refugee".One look around the place I used to call home is enough to want me to call it quits. And this is just the beginning..

A once peaceful haven is in thoroes of upheavel. The walls, furniture, cupboards, the crockery, even the measly dustbin - all have revolted and have surrpassed their basic rights of being mere fixtures. All of them have come apart either in whole or bit by bit.The worst hit for now is the kitchen.Apparently a tornado just hit the kitchen and am afraid there are no survivors.Everything has been peeled off from the root.Whatever could be saved due to the efficient rescue team has been shifted to the bedroom.End result - Sleeping with the Utensils.

Whats ironical is that you meticulously plan the ravage and you hire the executioners.Doesn't end here..you even pay for the ammunition and constant refills.Infact the basis of this exercise is to prove to oneself the nutcase that one is or aspires to be.

In this chaos, one wonders why on earth did I want to renovate?Human desire to want a better living is understandable in theory but practically to achieve that is hummpph..will let you know if I survive this ordeal. To top it all much more is in store atleast for a month more...this is reporter so and so(in need of hot soup and warm bed) reporting from the war torn zone called HOME..

Ho Ho Ho

St. Francis De Sales is what I remember when its christmas. Thats my schoolname. And 13 years in there has left a lasting impression of chirstmas to last a lifetime. The very sight of a decked up christmas tree and santa is enough to perk me up come what may.

The stocky guy in red with a long white beard continues to fascinate me no end .To say that am 28 and still beleive me in Santa is not the least bit embarassing.Infact I think every adult in some way either believes or wants to believe in santa claus.Santa actually stands for celebrating all thats innocent and untouched - the child in all of us.

So cheers to the child in you!!Merry Christmas to All you guys!!May love and sunshine be yours now and forever!!

Guess who's coming to Dinner

"You seem to be two beautiful people in love but with a pigmentation problem" says Spencer Tracy.Thats the jest of the story really.
Its a movie have seen twice now and cant help but write about it.Its a movie which has humour with a soul and thats the distinguising aspect .
Its a simple story of two people in love trying to justify their marriage to their respective set of parents since in US one never asks for permission to marry from one's parents(not now and not in 1960s..the time this movie is set in).Why do they need to justify you'd ask..well the thing is the guy is a black(Sidney Poitier...To Sir with Love guy) and the girl a "white"(some dame). And that is the crux of the story.
How the parents come around to the childeren's wishes inspite of the logic and practicality which governed the society then.No preaching , no harping on equal rights, nothing of that sort.Just dialogues from the heart - humorous and thought provoking.
Spencer Tracy is brilliant as the liberal thinking though uncomfortable with the decision dad.And now I know why Katherine Hepburn is famous - she is the perfect troubled mother - torn between practicality and love for her daughter. Both these characters though troubled never once go overboard and are just breathtaking as a couple. You see this movie and realise this is the (now lost) form of art called acting.
They aint make movies like this anymore..
